Russian and Chinese Hacker Groups Target America

In some deep web forums, Russian and Chinese hacker groups came together in the chat rooms they opened and stated that they were working on developing large ransomware and designing advanced attack tools.

Here, it has been observed that Russian and Chinese hacker groups have chosen America as a common target.

While it may seem like a nascent threat, in 2015, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told the Senate Armed Forces Committee during the 2015 presentation of the Worldwide Threat Assessment, “The Russian cyber threat is more severe than we previously assessed, although I can’t go into detail here.”

The report lists sophisticated cyberattacks as the main national security threat facing the United States. “Cyber threats to U.S. national and economic security are increasing in frequency, scale, complexity, and severity of impact,” the assessment says.

As James Clapper mentioned during this presentation, it shows that the cyber threat from Russia is based on the past.

Conclusion:

Nations; As during the cold wars, hot wars evolve into a world where keys are more powerful instead of stones, weapons and physical manpower within the scope of the requirements brought by technology and the period we are in. Nations must be aware of these threats. It should increase the awareness of institutions on a national scale.

Just as the obligation to employ occupational safety specialists has been brought to the institutions, in the same way, in order to ensure the security of the institutions against cyber attacks;

Hosting personal data, providing critical infrastructure services, etc. It should be made compulsory for institutions and organizations to receive cyber security consultancy services within the scope of digital transformation.
