The deadline for real and legal person data controllers with more than 50 employees or an annual financial balance sheet total of more than 25 million TL and real and legal person data controllers residing abroad to fulfill their obligation to register in the Data Controllers Registry is extended until 31.12.2019. It was decided.
This postponement decision was taken after the data controllers informed the Personal Data Protection Authority through TOBB and sector representatives that they would have difficulty in raising their records to the previous date, 30.09.2019.
- Only for large-scale companies, there is probably a 3 month delay for the last time. It is necessary to make good use of this time.
- The Personal Data Protection Law will not come into effect on 31.12.2019. On the contrary, the law has been in effect since 07.04.2016.
- Parallel to the examples in the world, the institution has started to impose administrative penalties and even imprisonment in increasing numbers day by day to data controllers who cause personal data breaches by not taking adequate precautions.
- Companies should see KVKK as an opportunity to protect and strengthen their own reputation, rather than an obligation.
