The Personal Data Protection Authority shared a reminder announcement about the registration deadlines for Verbis on its website.

The registration date of natural and legal person data controllers with more than 50 employees or with an annual financial balance of more than 25 million TL was extended from 30 September 2019 to 31 December 2019. This decision was met with excitement by companies that had not yet started the compliance process. As far as we have observed, the idea that the already extended date will be delayed a little more is dominant among companies. Regardless of whether the registration with Verbis is extended or not, the overlooked issue is that compliance with the law is mandatory. Although this last reminder announcement of the board increases the possibility that the date will stay like this, of course, the opposite is also possible. However, it should not be forgotten that the law is in effect, companies that do not implement the technical measures as specified in the law may encounter a data breach at any time, and as a result of these violations, not only can they pay fines, but also a loss of reputation.
