SD-WAN Technology

What Is SD-WAN?

Software Defined – Wide Area Network, as the name suggests, is a software-defined networking technology applied to WAN connections with SD-WAN, branch offices or data centers. In short, we can say that the WAN structure is virtualized. For example, if the physical hardware creates the infrastructure in server virtualizations, it can show it as a single internet connection by virtualizing it by using technologies such as xDSL and MPLS, which are the infrastructure of WAN virtualization.

In network structures using SD-WAN, WAN connection status and quality can be monitored, and important decisions can be made for the structure in traffic flows thanks to these measurements.

What are the SD-WAN Advantages?

One of the most important advantages of SD-WAN is the expensive MPLS lines; fiber, DSL, etc. By switching to infrastructure, expenses can be reduced.

SD-WAN allows network administrators to quickly manage related demands and can quickly solve long-running jobs and tasks thanks to SD-WAN.

It can also cut costs on the management side. Thanks to SD-WAN, you can easily manage all your devices with a central control.

It provides real-time traffic management. SD-WAN gateways constantly monitor the health of the entire WAN link. When a problem occurs in any connection, the traffic is redirected to the different side. It also helps to improve performance through these monitorings and referrals.

To summarize its advantages briefly;

⦁ Increases speed and stability between offices.
⦁ Increases the security level.
⦁ Reduces your remote connection costs.
⦁ It allows you to manage the entire structure from a single center.
⦁ Increases work efficiency and user satisfaction.

Conclusion

In summary, SD-WAN technology improves the quality of service in critical applications with the advantages of fast routing on network ports and greater visibility into WAN paths. It plays an important role in reducing costs and increasing security, thanks to the fact that network administrators solve problems faster and more effectively.
