Broward Health is a Florida-based healthcare system with more than thirty locations that provides a wide range of medical services and accepts more than 60,000 patients annually.
Broward Health announced that a cyber attacker gained unauthorized access to the hospital’s network and patient data on October 15, 2021. The health agency discovered the attack four days later, on October 19, and immediately reported it to the FBI and U.S. Department of Justice – which it said it had contacted a third-party cybersecurity expert to assist within vestigations.
The agency said it has started password change efforts for all its employees and critical systems.
