Personal data belonging to third parties sent by data controllers to the contact information of individuals, Policy Decision dated 22/12/2020 and numbered 2020/966

With this principle decision announced in the Official Gazette dated January 15, 2021, the Board emphasized that it is necessary to act in accordance with the principle of "being accurate and up-to-date when necessary" in Article 4 of the Law.

The Board makes this decision by data controllers operating in different sectors, such as invoices, reservation documents, statements, etc. It was determined that such documents could be forwarded to unrelated third parties as a result of incorrect data entry.

Accordingly, it was stated that mechanisms should be established to confirm the accuracy of the contact information processed by the data controllers.
