A Bank Penalized for Late Return to Consumer

Decision dated 08/10/2020 and numbered 2020/765 regarding a bank

Personal Data Protection Authority, regarding the complaint received by the relevant bank due to the lack of a timely response to a consumer's request;

  • The lighting text is not specific to the relevant processing activity, it is general in nature,
  • The fact that there is no distinction made regarding the activities in the lighting text,
  • There is no clear information about the legal basis of data processing, and generally accepted expressions are used,

He gave instructions to the bank to correct these issues with his justifications, and an administrative fine of 120,000 TL was imposed by the bank due to the failure to comply with these instructions.
